JENNIFER MUNGERERA NJENGA Dr Jennifer Mungherera Njenga is a Medical Doctor with over 15 years of experience and special interest in Primary Care, Public Health and maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent and health. Dr Njenga has worked in several countries including, Namibia, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. She has led the development and implementation of improvement programs for marginalized groups including indigenous populations and migrants in the countries listed above. Dr Njenga has a Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery from South Africa, a Masters of Public Health from New Zealand and will soon have a Doctorate in Public Health from Australia. Dr Njenga is excited about the potential of working with dynamic teams to improve the outcomes of women, children and youths in underserved communities. Outside of work, Dr Njenga enjoys listening to music, watching movies, dancing and spending time with her family. Close DR. JERRY JAMES OPIO Dr. Opio Jerry James a medical officer at Kiruddu National referral hospital, department of burns and plastic surgery and an active member helping UHDF achieve its goals. Dr. Opio worked in many rural Ugandan district hospitals including: Adjumani district hospital, KIU-Teaching Hospital and research, and Koboko district hospital. (2017-2018), He was the field team leader with Humanitarian Organization for Development initiative-Koboko district, while there, he coordinated HODI activities in response to health needs of the refugees and the host communities. Not forgetting his critical role in implementation of safe male circumcision program, as a medical circumciser in various medical camps in collaboration with infectious diseases institute (IDI). Dr. Opio graduated with Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and surgery of Kampala International University and wants to be part of the solutions to health problems affecting sub Saharan Africa and Uganda particular. Playing guitar, watching news broadcast, boat ride are some of the things he does outside his professional work. Close RTN. MWESI HABAGAYA As Director of operations, he is responsible for coordinating and advising on the direction of organization operations. Mwesi is very passionate about improving the wellbeing of people and he believes in building and empowering communities to enable them solve their community challenges sustainably. Born in Butaleja district in Eastern Uganda, he is a graduate of clinical medicine and community health from Kampala International University and currently under-taking post graduate studies in clinical research and pharmacovigilance in India. He loves to engage in medical research and Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health programs (RMNCAH). Mwesi Habagaya, is the Founder and vision barer at Universal Health and Development Foundation (UHDF) an organization he envisions to improve lives of communities across the continent and beyond boarders and he has also worked with various organizations from grassroots to international levels while in his clinical practice he has worked previously at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, Kitagata hospital in Bushenyi and Murchison Bay Hospital in Uganda’s Luzira maximum Prisons headquarters including other private but not for profit medical facilities around the country. He has also and still serves on various national and regional boards including Girls Not brides Uganda where he is a member of the national steering committee and Eastern region coordinator, Served as the membership coordinator and member of the National steering committee of the African Youth and Adolescents Network Uganda and he is a member of many other community and district task forces. Away from Medical and NGO lifestyle, Mwesi is developing skills as a film maker and film director. He is also a seasonal businessman and his hobbies includes cooking, adventuring, some bit of music, movies and to serve generations. Close MISS JOAN TUSINGWINE Tusingwire Joan “Joshan” holds a first class honors degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance Management from Cavendish University Uganda. Joan is the Finance and Administration manager at UHDF and is responsible for overseeing and advising on the organization’s financial activities including preparation of annual budgets, financial reports, annual organization audits and monitoring budget expenditures. She has previously worked with Watoto Child Care Ministries as an Accounts Assistant and later an Accountant where she managed multiple client and supplier files, multiple currency donor accounts and supported multiple audit processes while maintaining a high level of integrity and dedication. Recently Joan has also worked with Batalo East as Finance Manager and has also taken part in the production of a theater dance piece branded “Kalabanda” by Tabu Flo Dance Company. She has also worked and still supports countless companies, organizations, artiste groups and individuals providing personal accounting and financial services customized to each client’s long and short term goals. Her love and passion for art makes her dedicated to working with artistes to develop edutainment project proposal, work-plans, budgets while planning and implementing projects one of the most recent being the “Arts Envoy 2018” working with Breakdance Project Uganda in partnership with U.S Mission Uganda. Joan is also an actress, creative writer, motivational speaker, event’s organizer and manager and works with different communities, schools and groups to develop and direct documentaries, stage dramas, and community dramas on topics relating to community lifestyles. Joan loves to travel, engage with the youth, eat and enjoy a good movie. “We all have a sense of humor, it depends on the situation!” Close PROFESSOR ROSEMIN KASSAM Dr. Rosemin Kassam PharmD., Ph.D. is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, School of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada. She is the Director of Research and Partnerships. She brings on board experience and expertise in global and local research focused on promoting rationale use of medicines and health services by improving community-readiness, cultural sensitivity, self-empowerment, capacity building, and health literacy among various vulnerable and ethno-cultural groups. Her expertise and experiences include global health research to improve child and maternal health, community-based and participatory research to promote health literacy and informed decision-making, knowledge translation initiatives to support teaching, learning, and practice of frontline health providers, mixed-methods and qualitative research, and pharmacotherapy specialist in geriatrics. She has previously led and facilitated global health research to improve child health in Africa and Asia. In a career spanning more than 30 years, she has received international and nation awards for her research and contribution to health care. Close MRS. BARBARA SEMATIMBA Barbara is the Programs manager and she is the in-charge for developing programs to support the organization’s strategic direction, creating and managing long term goals and operating plans. Born, raised in Uganda and lived in South Africa, Barbara is a qualified secondary teacher who later pursed training in Public Administration and Public Health and a Post Graduate diploma in HIV Management. She is also working towards completing a Master’s degree in Public Health in Johannesburg, South Africa. Barbara has previously collaborated with the UNAIDS program on the Joint Learning Initiative on Children and HIV and she completed research on Adolescent health -seeking behaviour in vulnerable environments like the Peri-Urban Township of Alexander in Johannesburg. She has also worked with the Support of AIDS Partnerships in Southern Africa with ActionAid South Africa and assisted with project management set up and support in providing Lesotho and Swaziland support through ActionAid’s mandate to provide Technical support in building capacity for the set-up of the National AIDS Commissions in those countries. Barbara has worked for the South African Clinical Research Association since 2008 as National Coordinator for a Membership of 650 string members across South Africa. Her passion to use her background on grassroots response to HIV through Education to empower and uplift rural communities by supporting program work that touches the core of Africa’s answer to poverty and disease: Building Leadership capacity through Adolescent, Women and Young Men’s programs that work. Close MR. PETER KARENGE Mr. Karenge is an architect and entrepreneur who is passionate about creating sustainable solutions that transform communities and power growth. Mr. Karenge is currently the President of BizSolutions 360 or B360™, an award winning and experienced provider of professional services and technologies including infrastructure security, logistical support, design-build, engineering, professional and consulting services. B360™ operates worldwide over a range of industries including infrastructure, power & energy, finance, logistics, water, real estate, oil and gas, private equity, retail, and the public sector. Born in the economically-poor Eastlands Estate in Kenya, and raised by determined parents who believed in hard work, discipline and the importance of education, Mr. Karenge is determined to leverage his capabilities to innovate economic empowerment solutions that alleviate poverty and create employment, especially for the more vulnerable people at a BIG scale. A former Kenya DAVIS CUP captain, Mr. Karenge is an intense team player and coach who enjoys building and developing relationships. He is a member of the American Association of Architects, the Architectural Association of Kenya, and the United States Green Building Council. He is the KEPSA U.S. Representative and serves on the board of the SBAIC – Small Business Association for International Companies (SBAIC) SUPPORT TEAM Close MISS HILDA MADABA Hilda is a service-focused community worker and counselor, with a strong commitment to serving the needs of the disadvantaged youth and adults, including victims of domestic violence, people living with HIV and AIDs, people with mental illnesses and special needs populations. Hilda has over 4 years experience in a variety of settings and with diverse client interventions. Areas of expertise include; Psychosocial support and community education on positive living, adherence for care takers and people living with HIV. HIV and AIDs counseling Children and Adolescents who are victims of sexual, emotional and physical abuse Supportive care and psychosocial education to care takers of people with mental illnesses and services. Social Administration Hilda is registered with the Uganda national association of social workers. She graduated from Uganda Christian University with Bachelors of social work and social administration, diploma in social work and social administration from Makerere institute for social development. She also holds a certificate of merit in HIV and AIDs counseling from the AIDs support organization (TASO). She is also continuously seeking to gain more skills and broaden her education. For instance, she is engaged in volunteering services at community mental health Uganda SB Bbosa mental health unit. Providing supportive care to mental health service users and their families through home visits, conducting mental health awareness and education to people seeking mental health services. She believes that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling happy lives. Close MR ALBERT MUBIRU Albert Mubiru holds a Bachelors in Economics from Makerere University, COP from Insurance Institute Uganda, and Diploma in Management from UMI, Certificate in Arts Management and Sound Engineering, A Certificate in Computer Science and Two CPD Certificates. Albert is Performing Arts producer and is currently working as a production director for Batalo east and has worked with Pablo Live where he created concepts to generate stigma awareness on youths affected with HIV in Primary and Secondary schools. He has directed Kuhamahama dance project in Batalo East, and he is a Unit Manager with National insurance cooperation specifically NIC life assurance. Albert has also worked with UHMG –Uganda Health Marketing Group as a peer educator and counsellor in the HIV sexually network camp. Albert is extremely passionate about Social and Economic Development within the youths in Africa. Close MISS BRENDA KATUSHABE Brenda Katushabe holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate and business management from Makerere University. she has previously worked with knight Frank and National Housing and Construction company. Close MR DANIEL MUNGHERERA Daniel Mungherera holds a Diploma in Graphics Design from UIGT Institute and a Certificate in Computer Graphics from MPK Graphics Institute. Daniel has worked for Future Graphics and currently working freelance for individual clients and various organizations. Daniel is passionate about working with young people and diverse population groups. This diversity coupled with his artistic nature allows him to be creative as he develops his products. Close MISS ANNE SUUBI Suubi Anne is currently awaiting her graduation in Mass Communication Bachelor’s Degree from Kampala International University, Uganda. Sje is from Luzira, Kampala, Uganda. She is very interested in working with the youth especially the girl child because she easily relates with every pressing issue they go through. She is also very passionate about writing and very talented at it, in the future she hopes to closely work with a film team especially the writers and editing department. Given the fact that she is a journalist in the making, she has managed to attain some good skills while in school like public speaking. She is also a very good orator and this is why she was one of the news anchors during her time at the university. Anne loves reading every good piece that she can access and this is why she has a good command of the English language. She loves traveling, researching and counseling. Close MR SAMUEL MUDIYA Mudiya Samuel loves working with communities and engaging with young people. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource management and passionate about creating positive change in the society. He has previously worked with local government on projects to address and reduce malaria cases as a community residual spraying supervisor and has also served in different community leadership positions in Butaleja district including representing young people living with disabilities. He has been part of UHDF from 2016 coordinating youth programs and currently serving as community development facilitator. He loves watching community games, reading and listening to Christian summons. Close MR THOMAS MUSHABE Thomas Mushabe holds a bachelor degree in journalism and Mass Communication, from Kampala International University Uganda and passionate about youth and IT engagement at including training computer skills, photography and designing graphics. Ha has previously worked with one brother’s photo studio and film center in fort-portal as a video and photo Editor and has also previously won an award in his career of practicing journalism including presenting shows at radio stations like Better F.M. Recently Thomas has also worked with VISION GROUP as graphics designer and news reporter and also attended several training from different organization like World College Association For Research Principals (WCARP) under korea. Thomas believes in change because where there is togetherness challenges can solved in all means.
